In 2005, I had two sons, ages 4 & 3, and a very busy husband, who was building his wealth management business. We desperately needed two incomes to provide for our family of four, while his commission based paychecks started to grow. I had enjoyed staying home with my sons until this point, and really didn't want to give that up.

Saturday mornings, while the boys spent time with their Dad, I would go to garage sales...trying to find the things we needed, but also for fun! I would grab my coffee and $20 in cash and look for clothes for the kids, or household items. I had started selling our stuff on eBay. Things the kids had outgrown, leftover wedding supplies, collectibles we had accumulated as kids.

I started to grab items at garage sale prices, if I thought I could make a profit selling them on eBay. I sure did! I remember the first $10 profit I made and the obsession began. I printed flyers and handed them out to garage sale hosts, telling them, "if you have anything you didn't want to sell here because the value was too high, I have an option for you." I got calls almost immediately.

Connie B. called and said, "when my mother passed I inherited her Royal Copenhagen Christmas plates. I know they are worth 'something,' will you come take a look?" $16,000 later, I had a lucrative consignment commission and Connie had a check in hand, enough to purchase a brand new car.

These connections, and sales, continued to happen and I was able to support my family, from my dining room table, for years!!

About a year after I started selling for my community, and taking individual consignment clients, I ran a small, business card ad in our local "pink" newspaper. It was a newspaper that you could read waiting in a doctors office, or while getting your hair done. It was $75.

I received a call that changed my life. A local Socialite, Billionaire, saw my ad, and called to see if I could clean out her closet. This began a relationship of nearly 20 years! I go to her beautiful home, pickup black trash bags full of items, and bring them home to list. I've had Chanel, Prada, LV, Gucci, custom runway pieces, bags, shoes, sunglasses, fine jewelry, gold, everything you can imagine. Over $500k in sales for this one client, and I still have bags to list as of today.

Word passed quickly about my skills, and I was able to scale in a really cool way. I had other stay-at-home mom friends, and some retired friends, who would list for me from home. Not only were we serving more clients to sell their items, we were also generating income for people I deeply cared about, all online!
